The new OMNI-900 antennas are aptly called the Narwhal Series. The enclosure of the new Narwhal series of antennas was inspired by the tusk of the narwhals, also known as the unicorns of the ocean. The large tusk is a giant tooth that grows inside out, with hard tissue on the inside and sensitive nerves on the outside, which means they get used like an antenna.
The Narwhal series is specifically designed to be used in marine and coastal applications with 5G/LTE routers & devices. It boasts an IP68 ingress protection rating against water that makes the antennas ideal for the most severe storms at sea. The antennas come in a fibreglass radome, making them fully saltwater protected and ideal for harsh environments. The Narwhal series comes standard with a 316-grade stainless steel base. The base is larger than our normal marine bases which adds to the aesthetics and the ruggedness of the antenna, to withstand high wind loads. An optional 316-grade stainless steel L-bracket is also available for pole and wall mount applications, namely the BRKT-90.
The antennas in the Narwhal series, achieve exceptional omni-directional performance, with ultra-wideband coverage from 617 to 4200 MHz. The combination of the superior omni-directional radiation patterns, alongside 2×2 or 4×4 MIMO capability, will ensure improved performance and throughput out at sea.
The exceptional wideband performance is an important factor for 5G and LTE technologies that rely on features such as Carrier Aggregation (CA) to provide the best possible reception and throughput over multiple frequency bands simultaneously. The Narwhal series expands our current marine antenna offering. The OMNI-902 & OMNI-904 will make use of a smaller enclosure, with an overall size of 1654 mm x Ø 145 mm. While the OMNI-914 will make use of a larger enclosure with an overall size of 2454 mm Ø 145 mm.
The antennas comply with CE, EN, CSA, RoHS and IEC Standards. They are rated for temperatures of -40°C to +80°C and will survive winds of up to 160 km/h. The antennas are tested for harsh environments with IK08 impact resistance.
